Christmas Bald-Faced Lies

Definition of a “Lie” – When a person believes something is false, but states it is true in attempt to deceive someone into believing the statement is true.

Example of a “Lie” – Your boss wears a new suit to work and it’s the ugliest thing you can ever recall seeing in your life. In order to flatter the boss you tell your boss it’s the most beautiful suit you’ve ever seen. Despite your boss feeling good about your compliment about the suit, God still is displeased that you lied.

Scripture:  (see Rev 21:8, the last words on liars)
“…and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
KJV

What are Christmas Lies? They are the falsehoods people tell to deceive others(most often young children) to get them to believe untrue stories that have been associated with and mixed in with the celebration that should be about the birth of Jesus Christ and our need to turn to him for salvation.

Examples of Christmas Lies:

– A Big man with a white beard dressed in red is going to travel all around the world in one night magically squeezing down chimneys and leaving toys and other gifts for each child that was good during the year – This is not only a Bald-Faced Lie, but smacks of idol worship (children are encouraged to send/write what seems like a prayer request to Santa)

– Elves are watching over people in order to report to Santa on whether people have been good or bad. People are even purchasing elf figurines and placing them in their home to trick their children into believing in elves and their magic abilities. Children are supposed to love the elf to empower it with magic abilities (e.g., to enable the elf to travel back and forth to the North Pole to provide its report on the family to Santa Claus).

– There is a secret magical kingdom, often portrayed as being at the North Pole, where Santa Claus and elves spend all year making toys for kids around the globe to be delivered magically on Christmas Eve via Santa Claus’ flying sleigh that is pulled by flying reindeer.

If you fill a child’s head with Christmas Lies because you think it’s “fun” to deceive them, What do you think that does to your credibility? And why are you surprised if your children get to a point where they lie to you because they feel justified in lying to you? How will a child really trust your sharing of the gospel message when they find you’ve been lying about so many things surrounding the Christmas story? Finally, read Revelation 21:8 regarding the fate of those who practice lying.
